The XPO Trainer from a Coach's Perspective - Chase Erwin of Little Rock, Arkansas

This month we're featuring Chase Erwin, a personal trainer based in Little Rock, Arkansas! Let's get to it- read below to hear what he has to say about the XPO Trainer!

Tell us about yourself and your gym!

I have trained out of my home gym here in Arkansas since 2014. I've been in personal training since 2009 when I worked part-time for a local gym chain and the rest is history. I started for the reason most people start, to be Instagram famous... All jokes aside, I was a super small as a kid and I know after years through my own personal fitness journey, I wanted to offer up my knowledge to others. Mix that with my overflowing love for interacting with people and training became a dream job for me.

As far as uniqueness in my training, I guess it would be the fun I try to have while working with my clients. There are enough super serious things you have to go through in your adult life. I want you to have fun while you work out, while you have a professional watch your every move. I'm able to do my job and offer a place where you can flush all the crap, at least for your workout. I train all ages, my youngest clients are from a local junior high school that I work with and my finest wines are over 70 years old.

Why did you purchase XPO Trainer(s) for your gym?

My friend (and XPO fan) Ben Bruno was using it out of his home gym and it looked to be perfect for my situation. Loved the easy storage, silent when operated and the overall workout it appeared to offer. People "LOVE" working with the XPO (I know they will kill me if they saw this without quotations)!

What benefits do you see when you or clients add sled training to a workout routine?

It's great because I have to ability to get this thing out quickly at the beginning of someone's workout and do our speed work or push it until the end for an incredible metabolic finisher.

What makes the XPO Trainer different from other sleds you’ve used?

Well, it doesn't work as well in the snow as I had hoped, but that aside I personally think it's THE BEST sled you can own if you have a home gym. The thing is silent, I'm able to store it on my wall when not in use, and the fact I don't have to load it down with weight saves my delicate body. It's the total package.

What is one of your most memorable workouts using the XPO Trainer?

I've got this hill right down from my driveway and one of my favorite workouts to run with clients is to strap on a band to the handles. Then I have them run a sprint up to the first light post (20 yards), then turn it around and ride the XPO down as rest. As soon as we reach the starting point, we push the sled backward all the way back up to the light post. After that, we will have a more serious rest before we repeat that combo for 3-4 sets. Check it out here:

We noticed Mark Bell's SlingShot on the handles of Chase's XPO Trainer. Chase says he uses the SlingShot to push the sled backward- putting his back on the SlingShot, he can do a reverse sled push to engage the quads in a workout like no other! Many customers want to find a way to do reverse sled pushes, and this looks like a great option!

Chase, thanks so much for your awesome reflections on the XPO Trainer. We're so glad Ben sent you our way!
